One of my new Texas favorite museums. We spent quite a while reading all the story boards and extra info about the Colt guns. The movie was much better than most museum movies. The display covered all you could want to know.

While I found the museum to be informative in many respects, I was disappointed by the lack of acknowledgment of the more complex and unglamorous aspects of the Rangers' history. The museum presents a one-dimensional narrative, celebrating the Rangers' role in Texas history while omitting critical topics such as racism and other mistakes that were part of the legacy of their enforcement practices.

It is important, especially in a public educational space, to provide a balanced and comprehensive view of history that includes both achievements and the realities of the power dynamics at play. By not addressing the impact of racial injustice, sexism, and the oppression of minority communities, the museum misses an opportunity to foster meaningful dialogue about the full history of the Rangers and their role in Texas.

I believe all museums have a responsibility to present history in a way that includes different perspectives, even when it is uncomfortable. I hope to see the museum update its exhibits in the future to reflect a more nuanced and inclusive view of the past, one that acknowledges both the accomplishments and the complexities of the Texas Rangers’ legacy.

Lastly, there are SO many guns in this museum, without explaining even once the importance of deescalation in policing. The best case scenario is that violence doesn't happen! Hard for me to take my young kids to this museum when the messaging is confusing and the guns are not put into a historical context to justify the purpose of their display.

Outstanding! Very firearm centric with great stories of Rangers past and more recent. Allow 2 hours and watch the movie first.

It was interesting. Lots of hands on exhibits, lots of history and you will definitely learn.

If you go, watch the movie. It’s about 45 minutes, a bit dated, but informative and the theater is comfortable
