I have had my eyes examined at SUNY College of Optometry half a dozen times and generally have had no problem with my contact lenses prescription and service. But realize that you are having your eye tests done by students who are supervised by doctors.

My most recent prescription for gas permeable contacts was not satisfactory and after trying my new lenses I immediately realized that I could not read a sign just 10 feet away. I had to telephone to make another appointment and the same doctor redid the tests, correcting his previous mistakes. This cost me money for the lenses I had already ordered, but fortunately I did not have to pay extra for the second visit. However, I will have to pay more for a second pair of lenses with the corrected prescription.

Overall, this is an acceptable place to have eyes examined. The service is friendly and thorough exams are done. Despite one bad exam, I would go again as it is cheaper to go here than other places in Manhattan.

Playing with the sight ... 3 appointments and they never gave with the problem only drops and I with an unbearable pain in my eye, and when they find the problem they continue with the same and in the end they transfer me to another center for surgery where my insurance did not cover ... a garbage of place and wait for me for my next appointment that the mothers who gave birth to them will go for me…

I do not recommend this place to anybody. I been constantly complaining about the fogging issues with my lenses and doctors continue to get the fit wrong... I tried different eye drops, different solutions, making sure my hands are clean, inserting the lenses properly and I still get fogging in my scleral lenses.... So It is not my eyes, been dealing with this for a few years now, the lenses still fog up within minutes so it's definitely a bad fit or maybe I need to try different lenses. I'm now realizing that this place is a "Suny College" so their are students that are not experienced and still learning, probably why they continue getting the fit of my lenses wrong but it's not fair to me because I'm the one that has to walk around with fogged up lenses. I'm definitely going somewhere else the doctors here doesn't seem to have that much experience when fitting their patients with certain contact lenses. The only positive thing I can say is that everyone their is nice and supportive but I still don't recommend this place. Go somewhere that's professional!

I love this place. I would definitely go again. This place is officially my go to for eye exams because the rooms were clean the staff was extremely friendly, giving big smiles and being polite. The intern didn't allow me to feel like a patient but instead made me feel like a friend. I don't know if this was because it was the interns' first day from their summer break but they were all happy an in a good mood. They are constantly being monitored by their supervisors to make sure things run smoothly. They give excellent service and are willing to answer your questions. The only downfall is that you will probably have to wait about an hour depending on how many people were their before you and you may spend a couple hours in your exam.

I am an African American female
45-50 years old.
Over a six week period I was diagnosed and treated for an ocular emergency. Namely, CORNEA ULCER. My experience was excellent! I felt totally satisfied with the care, respect and attention given. My questions was always answered; At each visit I was greeted friendly, and informed about the intentions of my attendant. After sanitizing the equipment my eyes was throughly examined.
I had appointments every three days. Because the ULCER healing was slow, I was given an amniotic membrane treatment which miraculously sped up the healing and restored vision, comfort and ease of driving in the sunlight. Extremely grateful for the team of doctors and interns that attended to me there.

Dont go here regularly if you want to avoid overpaying and calling your insurance company.

The billing department here is awful. I went here for weekly appointments during 2022 and a small number of them processed as out of network while the rest processed as in network. After close to a year of effort I'm still trying to get one fixed.

The billing department is also generally unhelpful when you call them on the phone.
