Had an evening flight out so we visited in the early afternoon and loved. Almost didn't get my adult children out of the Discovery Zone. The native people's exhibits were so beautiful and well done - I highly recommend them on the second floor. Love, love, lived the art work too! An afternoon well spent. Appreciate their educational discount on admission with teacher ID.

This exhibit is a wonderful must see and is, in my opinion, the best part of the museum! I learned so much about the people and culture and history of Alaska. There are tons of objects that are labeled well, small tablets with a wealth of information on every object, and moving videos with interviews and historic photos.

Best Inuit museum in Anchorage... The heritage museum is only slightly more interesting because they have live action Inuit songs and traditions that they perform... But the costume stories and information is second to none

As fascinating an exhibit as you would expect from the Smithsonian. You could spend days there studying all the artifacts, reading the documentation, and watching the videos. Just be aware that it's actually the 2nd floor of the Anchorage museum, so unlike the proper Smithsonian in Washington DC, it's not free admission.

The exhibits are all really old and haven't been changed or updated a whole lot since I was a kid but the information is all very interesting and educational. I enjoy visiting regardless but wish they could revamp the whole thing and make it more modern and eye-catching 🙂
