We were driving past and saw a huge whale so we decided to come inside and it did not disappoint! Generally not into museums but this made it a whole different experience. There was so many hands on activities that are even fun for young adults! The museum director was so kind and is doing a great job in always improving what i thought was near perfect! One thing that really stuck out to me was you could adopt a bird for a year and have your name posted by it!

This little local hidden gem is a great place to see the animals, insects, sea life and things that are native to the area. A quiet and up close experience with many beautiful and well preserved animals, birds, insects and other artifacts from the history of the Monterey peninsula. A must see for the family!!

Small museum but lots of exhibits to see and explore. We spent about 2.5 hours here. Exhibits include Chinese migration to Monterey, different insects, birds, plants, trees, and the ecology of Monterey County.

A pleasant and calm community museum in Pacific Grove. Serviceable exhibits deliver meaningful information about California's coastal environment. A wonderful adjunct to visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Budget and kid friendly, with excellent access for disabled folks.

Nice little museum. Lots of taxidermy animals and preserved insects to look at. It’s a two story small building with a small garden in the ‘backyard’.
The tickets are $10 per adult and free if you live in the area. It’s not too busy during the week but feels crowded in some rooms with how small they are.

Beautiful experience. Not a big museum. You can walk through it in 2 hours... Monterey residents can get in for free, however the entrance admission is around $10 for adults and $6 for kids. Little ones will love how interactive some corners of the museum can be.

Very recommended for all ages!

We really enjoyed this museum. They have a good collection of taxidermy birds and animals and I found the history and small diorama of the Chinese fishing village fascinating.

The stand out is the wonder exhibit. This exhibit is incredible, our kids are adults but I know they would have loved it and I think that any kid would find wonderment in this room. This exhibit was truly well done.

A note to the museum manager. PLEASE UP YOUR MERCH GAME! Honestly we were disappointed because we wanted a shirt or hat. As a suggestion commission the artist that is showcased on the second floor to make a design to put on shirts or hats.

I highly recommend stopping in! The aquarium is wonderful, but this area has a wealth of other animals that are better described at this museum, and some history displays as well. Very thoughtfully put together exhibits - I especially liked the birds and the exploratorium - will visit again 💚
