I have been extremely disappointed with the quality of this product and experience we’ve had. The sales process made us believe the implementation of (at the time Mavenlink) would be fast and relatively easy—which it was not. We were not aware that we would need months of setup and on-boarding before we could use the product. We’re a small team and the cost in dollars and time to get going was not communicated and we would have picked something else.

My team hates using the product because it isn’t user-friendly, the UI is awful, and there is nothing straightforward about using Kantata/Mavenlink. Setting up projects, resource allocation.. basically everything you’re trying to solve for is extremely difficult to do. The project management function is so difficult we don’t use it because the team hates it. No one likes time tracking, but making it difficult to do just makes your staff unnecessarily unhappy.

There have been zero redeeming qualities and we are cancelling our renewal. We have tried to make this work because of the large initial investment—folks, it isn’t worth it. There are so many alternatives that you could consider, and quite frankly cheaper. The final straw has been an unwillingness to work with us to reduce the number of seats we have in our current setup. Most modern apps and software allow flexibility as you need it—however that isn’t the case with Mavenlink/Kantata. I would expect a partner in business.

If zero stars were possible I would rate it there. One star suggests some value and there is none. If you’re considering Kantata, stop and go find something else. Save yourself the heartache, unhappy staff, and draconian policies.
