I honestly hate to post this. But I'm hoping Greenville Tech sees this and truly thinks about the changes they've made over the last couple of years that have NOT worked and made things really difficult for students.

I went here for my nursing degree. When I was going there (graduated 2021) the college was one of the best and the nursing program from what I hear is still one of the best in the entire state, even compared to universities.

My son has been going there for a little over two years now. The way they have changed the financial department is absolutely horrible.

When I was there, I rarely had any problems with financial aide. Nursing school financial aide was a little tricky, but once things were explained, it was manageable.

Repeatedly, infact almost every semester, my son has had a problem with financial aide. When the government was helping people get through it during COVID and giving free classes, they screwed up my son's financial aide. He had graduated from a special high school, where he actually took classes AT GREENVILLE TECH while taking high school classes too.

He started taking classes the summer he graduated. I tracked the amount of times his high school transcript had been sent to GVL Tech. His high school had OFFICIALLY sent his transcript THREE TIMES.

There are 2 reasons he shouldn't have been charged AT ALL for that summer. One was that his high school was actually part of Greenville Tech and had an agreement that his first year at Greenville tech would be FREE. The second reason is that when he went in, it was during COVID and the government was making sure all of the classes were free. GVL tech had big banners on the school properties advertising it.

Somehow, it took months and months to figure out that Greenville Tech made a mistake and marked that he did NOT have his high school transcript in their system, as if they never received it. As mentioned above, they had been OFFICIALLY sent his transcript THREE TIMES.

This had a snowball effect on the financial situation for MONTHS which then affected his ability to start taking classes over and over again.

When he was supposed to start taking classes in Fall, they said he owed money. I figured there was a glitch, and I paid for it (luckily I was able to that time). They never made us aware that we were having to pay because they didn't have his transcript. This should have never happened. When I went to tech just a few semesters before my son had gone there, I never had problems with financial aid.

During the fall semester, he was preparing to sign up for fall classes but couldn't because financial aide said he owed money for the summer. I called them repeatedly and after multiple attempts found out, that they"didn't have his transcript". After repeated phone calls to the high school, I discovered that they had exact dates of his transcript being sent THREE TIMES!!!! I also asked why he was charged since either way, it should have been free, since grants were supposed to pay for it.
By that time, they said they had already received the grants for the summer classes, and no more grants would be sent to back pay, basically their screw up.
So Greenville tech said they would fix it. I went up there repeatedly, and into spring semester, becc a they basically let the ball drop and STILL NEVER FIXED IT.
They should have paid for that on their own. But they used some money that was supposed to be his in a different way to fix their booboo. Money that still probably should have gone to him.
To add on top of this, almost every single semester that my son has been going there, they have made mistakes on his financial aide.
Thank goodness I was there to help my son get through there and understood that the college was really making a mistake somewhere. I feel bad for students who don't know.

I hope the college can self assess and find the differences between when I graduated in 2021 and when he started his college classes (after high school) in 2022.

Do yourself a favor and don't start here! It's not just me; check other comments. This school is a disaster and a total fraud. I was supposed to start classes in the fall semester and couldn't. I went three times and was told the same thing each time, that I didn't need to do anything. Now they tried to send me a bill for almost $3000, which I have been trying to clarify for months. Even with an email from the billing department saying I wouldn't be charged, they now want to charge me. They marked me as attending classes I never went to because I thought I was already out of the program. After they wasted my time and gave me false information, they say the best they can do is mark me as not attending and charge me "a small amount." TERRIBLE SCHOOL, terrible attention, terrible billing department, not to mention the advisors who never have time for you and talk to you as if you're bothering them. I have been under constant stress for months. For your peace of mind, find another school.

(Updated to 5 stars after attending 👍) Register yourself if you can, and look at your programs requirements by yourself. The advisors aren’t very helpful. 2 diff advisors told me false and misleading info. They seemed to not want to do anything beyond the bare minimum. College looks pretty clean.

Update: So originally my review was 2/5 stars because of the bad experience getting in. Now that I’m here, I love this college.

They have a beautiful student success center. A nice library complete with a cafeteria. Their online services: web advisor, blackboard, GTC website. Are wayyyy better than the last college I attended.

The professors are really cool for the most part and I can’t believe I have only about a month to go before fall semester is up. Plus GTC is close by to a ton of nice coffee shops like summer moon, Starbucks, and Greenville downtown is a few minutes away. So after classes end you can explore the city.

Also there’s a ymca not too far away where u can workout, go swimming, etc. The location is fantastic. Only thing that’s annoying for me is the traffic to get into Greenville every morning seems to be getting more congested.

Decent school, but terrible administration staff. Terrible customer service all around. They treat you like a number, aren’t friendly at all, and rush through conversations even when you’re the only one there. On the flip side, they’ve put a lot of money into physical campus improvements. I only wish they’d host a people skills seminar for their employees to learn how to properly communicate with people.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Greenville Technical College. I started my college life during the Summer 2023 semester, and when I wanted to ask general questions no one knew how to answer them. I wound up just digging through their site to figure it out. I'm in my second semester here and never even received a student ID, which I assume is partially because I'm taking online-only classes.

More importantly though, if you're a returning student and have a lock on your account that will not let you register without meeting with an advisor.... good luck. I started reaching out to mine on Sept. 29, got one response saying she'd see what's available... and now a full month later I've heard NOTHING back. Now we're past early enrollment and I can't even get an appointment to register. The Greenville Tech site also says that students with less than 18 credit hours can do a walk-in advising appointment, but that's a lie. I was told to just forward my email between myself and my advisor to the advising department, and of course I have STILL not received any kind of response. I chose Greenville Tech because of the ability of being able to complete my degree fully online, but getting registered has turned into such a headache that I'm getting very fed up. Some of us have full time jobs and do not have the time to go back and forth every day just to have the privilege of signing up for class.

One-Star Review: Greenville Technical College

I would not recommend Greenville Technical College to anyone. The professors are lackluster and unengaged, and the quality of education is subpar.

I had several professors who were clearly not passionate about their subjects. They lectured in a monotone voice and read directly from their textbooks. They made no effort to make the material interesting or engaging.

Other professors were simply not competent. They made frequent mistakes in their lectures and handouts. They were also unable to answer my questions clearly and concisely.

As a result of the poor teaching, I struggled in many of my classes. I had to spend a lot of extra time on my own to learn the material and prepare for exams.

I am convinced that I could have gotten a better education at any other community college. I am very disappointed with my experience at Greenville Technical College.

Here are some specific examples of my experiences with lackluster professors at Greenville Technical College:

* One professor was constantly late to class and would often cancel class at the last minute.
* Another professor would frequently go off on tangents and talk about his personal life instead of teaching the material.
* One professor was so disorganized that she lost several students' assignments.
* Another professor was unable to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise way.

I am not the only student who has had negative experiences with the professors at Greenville Technical College. I have spoken to many other students who have similar complaints.

If you are considering attending Greenville Technical College, I urge you to reconsider. There are many other community colleges in the area that offer a better quality education.

I signed up at Greenville tech to take three classes this summer Before entering chiropractic school. I have never seen a more disorganized system of education in my life. Nobody there has any idea what's going on. It took three people to tell me how to get to the student center and I ended up having to park and walk there. And upon arriving, I explained to the woman at the desk that I was new and that I had never been to that campus before. When I asked where I needed to go first, she asked me where I wanted to go. I told her that I did not want to go anywhere, but I needed a student ID I needed my books, my parking permit and so forth. She sent me to the bookstore first but I couldn't get books because I didn't have a voucher. By the time I got back to the student center I was already late for class after having arrived more than two hours early! The computer system was down three times during the first four days and the phone system is been down for more than a week now. I will not even make a comment on the format or curriculum. It is no wonder the level of ignorance that we have to deal with in this country. Our educational system is broken and Greenville tech is a shining example of failure at its best. It has been three weeks now and they still have not processed my FAFSA properly and want me to pay like $6000! I decided to withdraw out of every class because taking any class here would be a complete waste of time and money. They have not properly completed my withdrawal and it's been over three weeks. I still have no ability to even contact the school since their phone system has been down for the last five days. Do yourself a favor and don't even waste time applying.
