We are a new family to Greene Street as of 2023-24 for Kindergarten but carefully made the decision to apply after two years of learning about the school and attending programs as a prospective family. We appreciate the commitment to social justice (it's witnessed in the activities the children are engaged in) and celebration of diversity, to name two things that are important to us. And those things are explicit threads throughout the curriculum. My child feels safe and loved there and that is very important to me.

I highly recommend Greene Street Friends School if attention to the whole child is important to you. I hope to be able to continually add more to this review as we continue our journey.

Our child has thrived at Greene Street Friends School in his first 3 years. With small class sizes (each with two teachers and fewer than twenty students) he has been fortunate to receive individual attention. His teachers have been very experienced, capable, and proactive to recruit additional supports when needed (reading specialist, occupational therapist). It's a kind and caring community, where the teachers and administrators show the students respect and take them seriously. I appreciate the school's focus on social and emotional learning, Quaker values, and racial and social justice, and I believe these emphases support gentler social dynamics among the students. As a parent of a Black and biracial child, it's important to me that I can trust that the teachers, staff, and administration are all genuinely anti-racist and I can see that they deliberately work to create a school committed to equity and justice.

Since 1855, Greene Street Friends School has educated children according to the Quaker principles of honesty, respect for the individual, peace and simplicity. That tradition of innovation continues today with an emphasis on hands-on learning, peaceful methods of conflict resolution, cultural understanding, community service, environmental education and the thoughtful incorporation of technology into the curriculum. Strong fundamentals and ethical strength prepare our students for a rapidly changing world and enable them to succeed with enthusiasm for learning and for life.

Greene Street has been a part of my family's lives for 14 years and counting! This school is very near and dear to my heart. My 18 year old went through and now my 8 year old is in 2nd grade.

This school truly upholds quaker values and does an incredible job with life skills and emotional support. This is not a prep school it is a small community school with community values.

I recently graduated GSFS. Overall I had a great experience there, but in my last few years, there was a lot of the frustration with the administrators and I felt like they listened but didn't care (Most). In addition, they often brushed aside issues that needed to be addressed further, and some of the faculty never took the benefit of the doubt to the kids various times. Me and my close friends helped to create Stay Woke Day, to talk about racial issues in America. It took A Lot of time, and we never received the credit we thought we deserved. The education however is incredible, being close with teachers is a great experience to have. The science teacher, Social Studies, Spanish, Music Director, and Language Arts teachers in particular are cool. But I'd definitely apply if you're looking for a close and good relationship with teachers, good education, and nice people I guess.

We applied for our child to attend to Kindegarten. We came in for an evaluation and all seemed well. Received a call a few weeks later that stated that they felt she was not ready for Kindegarten; would we be interested in pre-k. We told them yes because the goal was a sound early foundation. Never received a follow up call or email back. Contacted the head of the school/admissions and she never returned calls or emails either. I was very disappointed by this rudeness. If a slot was no longer available, please extend professional courtesy and say so. We luckily found a great Montessori Kindegarten program for that year and our little one is flourishing.
