I am sharing an experience from this past Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at the Friendship Village in Sunset Hills. My spouse, friends, and I joined Rita F., a resident there, for dinner at Edelweiss. The experience was so good that I feel compelled to write a review. I recognize that this is limited in scope, but based on what I observed and heard from Rita, I believe that there is an awful lot of good happening here.

Our dinner on Saturday night was fantastic. The food was delicious, and we were treated to multiple courses. Honestly, everything came out looking and tasting delicious, and I was truly impressed with the variety of food offerings and the quality and care with which it was prepared and served. We put in our orders and had our meals almost immediately! I had the pizza soup, the salad with onion vinaigrette, Shepard's pie, braised kale, and onion rings. The Shepard's pie looked as beautiful as it tasted!

What set this experience apart was the quality of the staff and the attention to detail, both in the kitchen and on the dining room floor. Ashleigh was our server, and her warmth and rapport with Rita and with the other residents was beyond reproach. She treated folks like I hope my parents would be treated, and the love and kindness she demonstrated throughout our evening came off as totally natural and 100% sincere. It was not just her, though: the entire floor staff, including the manager, were truly as kind as could be. KUDOS TO THE DINING AND KITCHEN STAFF!

The facility was beautiful, the residents are an incredibly social bunch, and based on what I experienced on Saturday evening, I feel that Friendship Village has built a culture of trust and kindness among their team members, which in turns translates to an outstanding living experience for the folks within their span of care.

The staff members in the skilled nursing building are very rude and unwelcoming. They refused to introduce themselves. I had no clue who was assisting me. The instructor told me I don’t need to know her name. I would not recommend this facility. They have created a hostile environment.

I do not miss working for this place at all they do not care AT ALL for their employees especially waitstaff I had to take my 6yr old son to the emergency room and called in 1 time and they got mad at me and when I tried to turn in a excused from work from hospital they wouldn't except it and not to mention when you first get hired and your in the orientation classroom they literally tell you that you should feel very lucky to have been hired there because they are better than anyone like WHAT LOL you guys are a terrible company to work for and are a huge joke .
It's funny also all these negative reviews on here are answered the same exact way probably automated because they actually do not care .
WORD TO THE WISE TO EVERYONE UNHAPPY WITH THEM CALL THE BBB instead I just wanted to leave this for everyone to see

I was diagnosed with breast cancer while working there and they had absolutely no empathy for me.They chewed my night shift supervisor out because she wouldn't put me on the COVID floor.The D.O.N. Marge, was the one who chewed my supervisor out.The staffing coordinator ignores my text after she told me don't call the staffing phone.I would have to call the facility.I have never experienced such evil while working in a healthcare setting.

I am appalled at the leadership in this organization. Rude and arrogant, I would not trust my loved ones in their care. FV Sunset Hills is a facade. From the outside, it appears inviting. Do not let them fool you. Beware.

Horrible Horrible terrible terrible place to work I have been serving over 10yrs straight and thought I had experienced all kinds of the different dining to work NOPE this place treats servers as if they are nobody's the back of house team is very rude to servers( except Bach and Brian and bo )and do not have to answer to anyone yes they have a smoking section and when it was heat advisory outside if you finally get to take a break you have to keep your uniform shirt on you cannot take it off even for a few mins WHILE OUTSIDE ON BREAK DURING A HEAT ADVISORY WHILE ON BREAK THAT YOU GUYS TAKE OUT OF THE CHECKS or else they pull you into the office and threaten to write you up also many servers have breakdowns and Noone cares you guys overwork and underpay shame on you .
Also servers doing deliverie not just in building but taking the bus to deliver to the neighborhoods and they want you back in time to start your tables that's ridiculous you guys with being the big place you are should have separate delivery people who come for 2 -3 hours to handle that so unorganized.

My father was a resident in the Skilled Nursing building from June 2021 until his passing in Sept. 2022. He received excellent care & most of the staff were very helpful & attentive. I’m giving 4 stars because the monthly cost of was absolutely criminal. Unfortunately, my dad could not get Medicaid & he did not have any long term healthcare insurance (Medicare only covers hospice). I’d say FV is one of the nicest facilities to live at in St. Louis, if you can afford.

Where do I start to review Friendship Village-Sunset Hills?
-You drive up and the grounds, buildings, landscape of 52 acres is breathtaking.
-Their highly-skilled customer service/care is second to none. From front desk concierge, sales, office staff, security, housekeeping and 20 year old waiters/waitresses that have worked 5 years, show daily their love for the residents.
-Efficiencies, quality and friendliness are hallmarks of their service.
-The food is delicious and abundant in variety and portions. Great Sunday Brunch also.
-Cleanliness in all the details of the updated and beautiful lobby’s, hallways and resident rooms.
-The ambiance here at FV-SH is always inviting, welcoming and comfortable for 62 and up in age. You can tell by the smiles and demeanor of the residents that they are loved and well cared for by this staff.
-Overly impressed with their professionalism and customer care.
