I am South African, Them Consulate makes me NOT want to be. Every time I have to renew my passport I have to literally GO to SOUTH AFRICA because this consulate says they take 6-12months. ridiculous. I have heard of people having to wait LONGER! I would only trust them to renew mine if I miraculously remember to do it 2 years before expiration...... anyway when I go to SA they renew mine in 1 week, so im confused why it would take over 6months from here!!!!! So many other African countries with smaller economies renew passports much faster!

Visits on appointment only, and no appointments available for 2 months from todays date. Office hours are 9-12. only 3 hours for such an important office! makes me so sick.

The best service i have had in a long time. Some good old South African hospitality ❤️. Big thanks to Sis’ Ntokozo for helping me with my passport & unabridged birth certificate application. She made it a breeze, was very warm & kind . I love her giggle, she’s funny too with some real SAn humor. She asked me several times if there’s anything else i needed as i had traveled from far to New York. Sam’thandi ❤️. Thank you guys for all you do , we appreciate you!!!

Great attitudes from the staff. Took longer than I expected but still 10 times faster than any home affairs office. My only issue is that they don't accept card/cash payments but money orders only so I had to walk to the post office down the street to get one but other than that it was a good experience.

Everyone I dealt with at the embassy was very friendly, professional and organised. I applied for my relative's permit and received it 10 days later. (VFS in South Africa estimated the processing time to be 18-24 months...) I am really impressed with the service and cannot thank everyone who works there enough! Out of all the embassies I have been to this one was by far the most satisfying experience! Keep up the good work!

Probably the best and friendliest service I’ve experienced from a South African institution (in and out of South Africa) I did wait a little past my appointment time but nothing major. Ntokozo was really lovely and helpful!

The staff were very welcoming and helpful! We applied for my son’s first ID and passport renewal same day. Ms N helped us and she gave us such good advice. Exactly 4 months later she called to say both were ready for pick up! You guys make us proud 🥳🥳 👏🏾👏🏾 🇿🇦
