Avoid making contracts with Chicago Title. I signed a contract in May 2023 and paid a deposit for a new construction. Over the entire year, there was a severe lack of communication, with no updates on the status of our house. After numerous missed deadlines, I could no longer wait because our lease was expiring and we were at risk of becoming homeless. I requested a refund of my deposit in May 2024, but Maria from Chicago Title informed me that they couldn’t return it because the builder had used it to order building materials. They also used weather as an excuse of building delays when Tulare County experienced very little rain this last year. A WHOLE YEAR PASSED AND HOME WAS NOT READY. I was never informed home would take more than a year. The builder sold the house for over $400,000, while my original contract was for $389,990. They clearly profited from the equity and my deposit. Recently, they refunded another party's deposit but not mine. Their conduct has been unprofessional and unethical.

I was waiting on a refund and have not received anything but a rude secretary answering the phone who said she was busy and I should call someone else. The First Lady I spoke with said she would send out the check but didn’t all I received was a letter of cancellation. She stated that the check was on the way but it’s been 2 weeks now. No one seems to know what’s going on with my refund. Avoid going through this company.

Receive a letter saying I would not get my money if I did not cash my check. So I called, turns out I had t pick it up. So I said I could pick it up the next day, lady tells me oh its expired but we can mail it to you. I said that's fine. A month later I call to ask about my check since i live 25 min away, they said we see what your talking about but we don't who you spoke with and we can't do anything. I now have to call the main office in FL and it's right before Thanksgiving and after working hours in East coast so I have wait for the the 27th. It's now Jan and still have not received it.
This place a garbage company ad should not do business.

This is after they delayed dropping off the papers to my county so it pushed my move in date and had to change that info with my homeowner's insurance and since it was on a Friday, I had to wait until Monday for them to process my information.

Signed off another escrow. This company is the most professional. I get treated like a king every time I am there. I just love the customer service and the friendly people.
