I've stayed at the residence over a few weeks for a long KITP workshop. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. Overall apartments are well equipped with everything you need. The kitchen has all necessary tools to cook absolutely everything you can imagine from cakes to barbecue (possible to use outside). Toilet was provided with a set of towels and basic toiletry for the initial few days. The only thing I didn't find was a hair dryer, but I was able to borrow it at the reception.
Common spaces are gougeous decorated with artwork of local Santa Barbara artists. There is a library, huge game room, a big restaurant size common kitchen, outdoor barbecue area and a bar where you can socialise after work.
The only unfortunate detail is that no pets are allowed (neither at KITP nor at the residence) so you have to necessarily leave them at home or opt for a pet friendly hotel.

Great place for physicists and families. Carlos, the manager, is awesome and does everything he can to make people feel welcome. The staff is amazing and I’ve never seen so much as a spec of dust! I love how welcoming it is to children as well. I can’t wait for my next stay.
