Central Coffee Research Institute is the main Research Institute of Coffee Board coming under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. The Institute is a premier Research center with seven individual Divisions conducting research on all aspects of coffee starting from varieties, pests and diseases of coffee, their control measures, its physiology, planting systems, fertilizer schedule with an objective of improving coffee production and productivity. The Institute was established in 1925 and has a full fledged library replete with books, encyclopedias on all aspects of coffee.

Central Coffee Res Inst. situated in the middle of coffee estate, a best location where it should be. Research on all aspects of coffee plantation is done. They have developed several cross varieties of coffee to overcome several problems of drought, pest control. They give training and suggestions to coffee planters.
Buildings are good old, almost British time but renovated here and there. Very friendly scientists working over here. We have been here for education trip, students were very happy with loads of information given.
