Bmcc will always be one of my favorite college where I took my prerequisite for the nursing program and graduated as a liberal art major in 2024. and now I’m planning to transfer to a private college. Bmcc is a great a place to start because you have a lot opportunities such as financial aid, tap, scholarships and you don’t have worries about financial problems. They have extraordinary professors , who are willing to help and totters. All you need is to focus and study. I’m really thankful Alhamdulily and thanks to Bmcc for everything they have done for me. I highly recommend Bmcc to anyone who’s interested studying in a community college.

Only rating because of professor Kenneth Antrobus. I don’t know why this college hired him. He doesn’t care about students, the effort, what may go on in their lives, or anything. Passed all my other classes with flying colors except his. On Rate My Professor he has a 16%. That says a lot. I didn’t even bother to submit assignments anymore after I found out it was too late to drop his class. When he posts assignments the file doesn’t even open it says error and he would have to repost it which would take him days to do and he would still drop your grade after his mistake uploading an assignment directions file THAT CANT EVEN BE OPENED. Horrible just horrible.

The college has won multiple awards from the CUNY system as well as other institutions for its ability to grant Associate's Degrees at an impressive rate and to foster continuing education at senior colleges. With a respectable teacher-to-student ratio, significant public and private funding, and a central location in New York City, the learning experience has been covered by many publications and studied by experts.

However, BMCC also suffers from a large rise in remedial education, lack of freshman retention, and overcrowding. Due to its larger base of capital compared to most other two-year colleges, expansion of new campuses during the rebuilding of Fiterman Hall was possible. Several trailers are still used as classrooms to this day in order to help expand capacity. Internal programs have also been created or expanded to help with academic advisement, provide online access for registration, transferring to other colleges, and job placement.

A diverse student base, some of whom had immigrated to America shortly before enrolling, also makes tailoring a viable solution difficult. Improving the retention and graduation rate as well as the increased financial and academic burdens of a remedial program still remain a considerable problem.

The Center for Career Development (CCD) provides students with comprehensive career planning services. Its professional career counselors assist students in making informed decisions about an area of study; research occupations that match their personal interests; write a resume; practice interviewing, and help them prepare as candidates for internships and employment. Students also learn to clarify their career goals, develop effective communication and interpersonal skills, conduct job searches, and develop a digital portfolio for employers to view as evidence of their skills, accomplishments and professional qualifications. In addition, CCD partners with New York Needs You, the New York office of America Needs You, to host career-oriented events and seminars to bring industry insights to its students.

I'VE SEEN MORE CHEER IN A GRAVEYARD!

The staff were rude and unhelpful.

If you are considering this college for yourself or one of your children, decide for yourself by going in person. Feel free to read on about my experience.

Here were some of my encounters:

1) Advisement, by 2 staff advisors
2) Health office, to update vaccine records
3) Registration area for assistance
4) security desk & janitor
5) English Professor

1) Both advisors showed no interest in me or what I was looking for. They acted impatient when I didn't understand the details and behaved as if I was annoying them with my questions. It felt as if they just wanted me to go home. I felt uncomfortable.
2) The lady in the health office repeatedly interrupted me, was extremely disrespectful, loud, and was unprofessional towards me.
3)The lady in registration area behaved as #1 above, and then was kinder after I asked for assistance from her supervisor. Go figure.
4) Strangely enough the security staff and brief encounter with the janitor was in contrast very pleasant! They were more polite than most of the staff.
5) The English professor behaved childishly, extremely unethical, and unprofessional at times. It seemed to me that he was trying to influence student's writing with his own political agendas. He made extremely inappropriate and controversial statements that led me to believe this was less of a teaching class and more likely a stage for him to preach. The professors I encountered presented most materials with far left political views which in my opinion was to influence the students. I have no problem with a fair and neutral informed political stance to allow students the right to choose their own opinions, but this was to the likes of pretty extreme left & most definitely shameful and unethical.

All in all, my experience has been that most professors here are mostly uninterested in their students, are underpaid and bored, and overall just not happy to help their students.
This has been MY experience, others will have to decide for themselves. Overall, it has been an epic failure at a hopeful experience for satisfaction.

Great college with students who are striving to better themselves. Without places like BMCC, thousands of NYers would have no access to higher ed. Most 4 year colleges do not have the resources to think about students who do not fit a specific SAT, GPA, or language level.

Very diverse. You can see all kind of people over here. Most of the students and staff are friendly. Environment is good. Friendly neighborhood. If you are hungry, you can find all types of food around the building. It has 26000 student. It also has a big cafeteria, big library, big quiet study place for study and a lot more . All in all this is one of the best college.

Quality of education: BMCC offers a wide range of academic programs that are taught by knowledgeable and experienced professors. The curriculum is challenging and prepares students for success in their chosen fields.

Accessibility: BMCC is located in the heart of New York City, making it easily accessible by public transportation. The college also offers flexible scheduling options, including evening and weekend classes, to accommodate students' busy schedules.

The only thing is proof of MMR vaccines for online students. CUNY President and NY Governor need to get rid of that.
