I’m hoping later I will be able to change this review but for now here’s how it is going. Back on September 17th I dropped off my husband’s old family movies and slides on film for a Christmas gift. Though I was told they couldn’t guarantee it would be ready in time, I sill felt confident I was dropping off well in advance and that it had a good chance. Today is 12/14 almost 3 months later and I called again because no one called me back yesterday when I left a voicemail message. I was left with the impression they hadn’t even begun to work. And for him to ramble on about how close we are to Christmas and how he’s probably going to have to work day and night…Not to mention took half of my cash up front. I should just save it for 2023 maybe they will have the transfers done after 15 months!!

UPDATE: They came through and had my order ready on 12/19 and I picked it up on 12/20. They showed me clips of the 8mm films and some of the slides. They came out amazingly well considering this footage was from the 1960’s. I recommend calling before you head over there to make sure someone is there. Still on the fence if I will take my VHS tapes there.

We highly recommend doing business elsewhere. We Dropped off two cassette tapes on April 22,24. The business has signs posted everywhere that turnaround time is 6 to 8 weeks. However, the owner of the shop told us that it would be 2 to 3 weeks to complete our project. After the third week had passed, we called to follow up and were told it would be done by the end of that week or early the following week. After that timeframe had passed, we called and emailed, with no response. On 5/28/24, we called and we were told by the owner that anything he says verbally is superseded by the contract that we signed and that says he has up to eight weeks to complete each project. We told him that we did not agree with this manner of doing business and would prefer a refund since he had stated he had not started the job at all. As soon as a refund was requested, he said he had in fact, listened to the tapes and that we would not be getting our money back. We told him he could keep the money, but we would like our material back, which he also refused. We went into his shop to retrieve the material and we were told by him that our material is legally his. He said that it was similar to dropping a car off at a repair shop, He owned the material until the job was paid for. We reminded him that we had paid for the project in full upfront. He went on a diatribe about how we did not understand legal documents and said he was calling the police because we were creating a hostile environment in his place of business. He ultimately did return the material, after multiple verbal threats and insults, but kept the money.

Submitted twenty-one 8mm films mid-July 2023, and the film was reported to be completed mid to late October. A week after I submitted the films, a family member passed away unexpectedly. This family member was in one of the films I submitted. I contacted AZ Digital and asked that they complete just that one film reel. They met it within three days so I could share it with my family during the funeral. I am and continue to be grateful for their attentiveness.
During the third week of October, I spoke with someone via phone. They informed me they were running late on orders and would email me an update. I have yet to receive an email, and to this day, I have made four additional phone calls and am still waiting for a reply. I also noticed that storefront walk-in is no longer an option but is only by appointment. Not getting a response is an uneasy feeling.
I was hopeful to send the film by the holidays to a family friend in most of these old films. She is currently in palliative care. At the very least, I hope communication will come out of this review.
