We visited using the City Pass, and entry was smooth and easy. We arrived right at opening time, which helped beat some of the crowds.

What we didn’t realize was just how massive this museum is—you definitely need a full day to explore everything properly. We only made it through about half of the exhibits, but every section was fascinating and well worth seeing.

One of the highlights was the Butterfly Conservatory, which was a really cool experience. The museum is great for all ages, with tons to see and learn.

As someone interested in physics, I was particularly excited for the Big Bang exhibit, but unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. While the visuals were nice, the presentation felt basic and didn’t go as in-depth as I’d hoped. It’s still a good introduction for those less familiar with the topic, but if you already have a strong interest in physics and cosmology, you might not learn much new.

The only downside is that there’s no clear path to follow, so you might find yourself doubling back or getting turned around. I’d recommend grabbing a map and planning ahead, especially if you don’t want to spend the entire day inside.

One great perk is that you can leave and re-enter on the same day, which we took advantage of to go out for lunch before continuing our visit. Highly recommend this museum, but be prepared for a lot of walking!

This museum is one of my favorites here in NYC. The collection of animals from around the world is impressive. How they recreate their environment is so beautiful, you have the impression of being there.

You learn a lot about the different cultures and peoples of the world, how they live, and their traditions and habits.

The collection of insects is very well presented. There are so many different species.

I recommend getting your tickets online so the line is much faster.

The American Museum of Natural History is an absolute must-visit if you are in NYC

This has always been my all time favorite museum in the city. From one hallway to the next. From one floor to the next. You enter a whole new experience. Plus, if you have kids they almost always love dinosaurs! Truly a fascinating place and one of my most highly recommended places to see if you're visiting.

The American Museum of Natural History is a fantastic destination for families with kids. From towering dinosaur fossils to interactive science exhibits, there’s plenty to keep young minds engaged. The Hayden Planetarium is also a great experience for space-loving kids.

The Food Court offers kid-friendly options while the cafe provides quick bites. Since the museum is large, plan for breaks and expect crowds, especially on weekends.
Overall, it’s an exciting and educational place that makes learning fun for kids of all ages!

This is a 10/10 experience. I’ve seen this place in many different movies. The day after tomorrow and night museum so I knew this is a place I had to see once I came to New York! First this place is HUGEEEEE! You need at least 3-4 hours to see everything which we didn’t have enough time. I don’t even think we made a dent. It is very family friendly so please be mindful kids are everywhere. I which they only had an adult night where it’s just people over a certain age to miss the hustle and bustle from the kids there. Overall I had a great time. I will be back to see everything I didn’t get to see.

An amazing museum in so many ways.
A huge and spectacular array of displays from across the globe. šŸŒŽ Also many different types of displays such as animal mounts, rock showcases, fossils…and the dinosaurs šŸ¦• on 4th floor! My children’s favorite!

If you’re a NYC resident you get admission ā€œpay what you wantā€. You should definitely reserve tickets ahead of time.

Mind blowing experience. When I heard about this place, I thought the hype is too much for a museum. But it is real. The architecture itself is marvelous, feels like walking inside a palace with a windows to zoo from different parts of the world. The animals themselves looks real with real skin preserved and life like sizes. The museum itself is so big it will take several hours to explore fully. They 4 levels, where each level has different wildlife from under the sea, to planetariums to dinosaurs skeleton. All the artifacts were surreal and it’s a good place to bring in children’s and youngsters who are interested in history and science. Overall I would definitely vouch to all my friends and family visiting NYC.
