There are some Amazing Teacher's at ARJ, how ever the big guys on the upper level, cares less what happens in a students life or health and will pile them up with work, detentions, and or even kick them out. Summer school was completed for my child to regain his credits, then we got a call that he could never return due to him not completing all of his credits and he didn't pass the grade level. He went to a new school that told us he had all of his credits and he was placed back in honor classes with his new school. Our family had been through so much. They care about what you can do far as money.

I quite enjoy my school. Yes it is not perfect but I would argue it is as close as you can get to it. The teachers they employ at Johnson are top tier. Most of the teachers that are employed care about the student. Most other reviews I have read about this school have complained about the work but the work in comparison to many other schools such as Davidson is miniscule. ARJ will prepare you for your future. Even though it could be argued that it is not fun because we do not have the same selection of clubs and sports as other schools. This effect is mitigated because the clubs and sports we do have are the best at having fun anywhere in the county. In Summary ARJ is my school and I love my school.

This school is a great academic challenge but...some of the teachers aren't the best at their jobs, and I question how they even got a job? Some are just rude or don't teach very well ... But the students are great and I made a friend on like the second week of school there's someone for everyone!!! I'll just say this after coming here I've been getting around 6-7 hours of sleep because I get home late on I still have a lot of homework. But all and all This school is great

This school is an absolute prison currently. For me, a student that currently has been here for 3 years and planning on leaving next year(for good reason) can say this school was pleasant before we got or new vice(or assistant, whatever you want to call him) principal.

People may use the excuse "this is teaching us responsibility" or "this is because of the rcboe." Though in my opinion, this is just because of "him" wanting more power over the school and making our lives more (excuse my language) hell than it already is. There is now new rule where you HAVE to be out of school by 3:20 to your destination or it's detention no questions asked. Now usually I would not complain about a change like this if it weren't difficult to fulfill this demand. The bell rings at 3:11, my locker is on the other side of the school from the exit. It was 3:20 on the dot and I'm about to leave when I literally get stopped in the middle of the hallway by staff letting me know I have detention. I'll let you think about that on your own, but it can't only be me that thinks that's completely unruly and unnecessary punishment.

Another issue is the mental health this school is giving us. I'm pretty sure you can already tell, we are given too much work with little time on our hands and that's really how depression starts. ON TOP OF THAT, you are expected to get a full night's rest, show up to school on time, not fall asleep in class, get all of your work done, and study. You know you could believe me when I say some of us are staying up past 12 getting all of our work (and possible studying done.) We are expected to show up on time with less than 6 hours of sleep, and keep a good attendance.

The new Vice(or like I said before, assistant) Principal is just making this school an even worse place than it already was. I won't go into detail of how, but I'll just say that more strictness doesn't mean you'll get something better out of us, you'll just tear us apart not only mentally but physically. How about instead of caring about the "quality" and "ranking" of your school, you think about the students and how they will feel for a second. Than maybe this school wouldn't be such a prison for us and we both can be happy. : )

prepares students for the future in a progressive way but as a result can be stressful and less forgiving. Most of the teachers are great and will do everything in their power to see you rightfully pass while the minority of teachers will expect you to know how to do everything by yourself.

A.R. Johnson is by far the best school I've ever been to. I have so many great memories and I made so many great friends. I wish I could go back. Unfortunately there are some juvenile students there, but that is to be expected of any school. Nevertheless, Johnson could raise its standards a bit more to cut down on such behavior. All in all I love Johnson and I would do anything to go back. GO PANTHERS!!

Gosh, I don't even know where to start with this school. I have never been so depressed since attending here, its not an exaggeration its the truth. You have to have intellect to be in a Magnet School, but there is a difference between being academically challenging and drowning students in so much work they can barely breathe. This is what takes away our passion, we aren't motivated, we don't want to learn, and at this point I'm struggling to get out of bed knowing I'll have to attend this school. A majority of the teachers are setting us up for failure, they don't teach and don't encourage students. They put us down and lower your self esteem as well as your grade and overall GPA.

This school is meant to challenge students and provide experience to "prepare you for college". This creates a "challenge" for who can dedicate their life towards doing school work on minimal sleep. The challenge is not in the difficulty of the material but rather the amount of work the students can handle. This overloads students with too much work. Due to allocating their time towards school work it takes away from other aspects of their life such as having a social life, excercising, and spending time with their family. This is especially true if the student has to ride the bus and/or has responsibilities such as a job or babysitting for example. To be in this school does not require intelligence but rather the dedication to put everything else aside to even have a chance at a decent gpa. This lifestyle is why many students here are struggling, you can choose to not turn in all your work and have a life or be boarder line suicidal and have the best gpa.

This school is certainly much better than any regular school in the area but that does not mean it is acceptable. On the rare occasion you are not stressed out this school can be fun and enjoyable but as said it is a rare occasion. If you are deciding to go to the school know that the high standards it once held are no longer the case. Going here will take a toll on your gpa and well-being just to be "ready for college".
