Update: 7/19/2023
That lady doesn’t work there anymore, the new phlebotomist is super kind and makes you feel welcomed. So I updated this place to 5 stars.

Original:
So the clinic itself and the way they do and explain things I give 5 stars. It was an easy process and Stewart was especially great. He made it clear that there was no pressure for you to participate if you decide not to. Most of the staff make you feel comfortable. The was one particular person that took my blood. Who seemed like she was having a bad morning, and just had a little attitude. She probably is very nice, and I can understand having an off day. It still made me feel weird. Other than that? Everything was fantastic and would still feel comfortable coming back here.

I’ve had several very lovely experiences in the past coming to Smart Cures but unfortunately my very last experience completely eradicated any positive feelings I once had prior for this business and its clinic’s management.

I’d like to first notate that I fully comprehend and take responsibility for my poor sense of judgement and lack of understanding for the trial I was participating in which I unintentionally caused this clinic and it’s staff members into assuming a rather awkward and difficult position as far as a research clinician-patient relationship goes; In retrospect, I would’ve done things differently, but even another Doctor can make mistakes sometimes.

My only wish is that this clinic’s very own business practices and the actions carried out by its staff members reflected having this shared understanding that people do deserve human compassion and respect-After all, it is the people, your patients, whom are the single driving force in what makes the clinical research field worthwhile to exist and thrive. Without people to make up clinical trial subjects, this clinic and all who are employed by this clinic, would cease to exist. Those trial subjects, such as myself, at one point, deserve your upmost kindness, consideration, compassion, and respect.

I was humiliated by this clinic through some pretty horrifyingly unprofessional tactics which its employees carried out upon me and they subjected me to some rather hostile treatment as well. I was first lured via a telephone call made by this clinic’s employees who, under false pretenses, requested from me to schedule with them my next “routine in-person visit,” or so they intended me to believe was going to be the case. Upon arrival, the staff members must’ve all collectively agreed together in private prior to my arrival that they were all going to refrain from revealing the true purpose to why I was actually there. Until I was sitting down in one of their exam rooms did they actually explain to me my true purpose of being there for was-Which was to be informed that I was being discontinued from the trial.

As if that were not an already disgusting realization I was seemingly intended to undergo by its staff’s cruel fashioning, I was told to stay put in their exam room until their Doctor came into the exam room. This grown man, probably twice my age, continued to speak to me as if I were a child, belittling me with sarcastic remarks and questioning my formal training and education. He used such rude language which intended to shame me for my unintentional actions which was quite hostile behavior for any adult to use upon another adult-Especially given that this grown man, a Doctor, someone who is supposed to uphold and embody human compassion, understanding, and nonjudgmental humanity towards all of his patients, was speaking to me thusly. I was in utter disbelief.

This barrage of slander and humiliation forced upon me by this Doctor continued on for about 5-10 minutes before I was given nonverbal cues from the clinic’s Manager which I can only describe as what seemed like “permission” to leave the exam room. And I did. I never felt so ambushed, attacked, and humiliated, in my entire life, as much as I did during that experience at this clinic. Of course, I tried speaking with the clinic’s Manager over the phone immediately after I left the premise because I was irate at how this clinic chose to inform me about being discontinued from the trial and how utterly offended I was by the entire experience. I won’t go into detail about that discussion because absolutely no resolution by this Manager was even attempted. Quite pitiful and an even more rather pitiful image of “leadership” carried out by the individuals who this clinic has chosen to place its management in the hands of.

I’ve only just now began to consider legal suit and as of currently I am in contact with a law firm that specializes particularly in California medical malpractice cases such as this one.
