Got to stay here because my sister is an alumni. Very cute studio cabin. Rustic, very Nordic influenced. Stuga ! We got the chapel key & looked around the chapel. Very pretty. Cabin & lodge have lakefront access. Would come back.

Bjorklunden is the perfect place for a wedding! The staff were wonderful to work with as we planned this Door County elopement, and my couple LOVED the peaceful tranquility that we found at Bjorklunden. The fact that Bjorklunden has so much to offer, from wooded paths to stunning shoreline, was a literal dream come true for this photographer! I can't wait to be back again!

Bjorklunden holds a special place in my heart. Though owned by Lawrence University, they permit some visitation. It's a place of peace. The chapel built by the Boyntons is a wonder of creation, manual labor, and committment. Though the old guest hall burned many years ago, my memories remain fresh of the dining hall with the immense stone fireplace, the long tables and benches, and the piano...

I've been to several retreats at Bjorklunden, one strategic planning session and 3 or 4 quilting retreats. The facility sits on a fabulous piece of property. Lovely, rustic paths, beautiful views of Lake Michigan, and within walking distance of Baileys Harbor. The building is well kept and highly functional, with some beautiful Scandinavian touches and a huge fireplace. The dorm rooms are spacious but not fancy. The food, in my experience, is exceptional.

Mile trail along Lake Michigan, begins to the right behind the Lodge with big parking lots available, with one of WI's rare boreal forests because of a +/- 5 degree dip in temps from the cool winds. Discreetly open to the public. Here for a Door County Land Trust Hike Leaders (14 Nature Preserves in Door County) Training Session, including a great hike led by Jane Whitney to demonstrate "best practices" for hike leaders.

Approach to the Lodge is through a forest of stately birch trees. It's hard not to think you're on the Swedish border with Norway.

Björklunden Swedish: [ˈbjœ̂rkˌlɵndɛn]; in full: Björklunden Vid Sjön Swedish for 'the birch grove by the lake') is the northern campus of Lawrence University. The 425-acre (172 ha) estate is on Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin, just south of Baileys Harbor. The landscape covers meadows, woods, and over a mile of Lake Michigan shoreline.

The University signed an agreement with the Door County Land Trust in 2016 to protect 305 of the site's 441 acres from future development. The land is primarily boreal forest occurring far south of its normal range in Canada.
