Terry and one other were my contacts. I immediately sent the small final bill payment after calling and being assured it was ok as the office would be closed from Friday to Wednesday. It was mailed immediately as I promised.
Anyway Wenesday the payment arrived. Bill was paid! But same day customer service sent us TWO very scary letters about having already sent delinquent notices out to tax departments etc. One bill was about $9 the other about $40. Scary letters not signed. No staff supervision. Need more staff training and review of board appointments and probably a new exec. Tell Mayor Ward. Poor public relations and atrocious and abusive collection practices. No wonder SBU Google rating is less than 2.3 out of 5. (Wow!) Time to clean house? SBU should not be labeled the worst Utility in the state for public relations. Sturgeon Bay deserves better. The customers deserve better. If nothing else a formal sincere apology and a plan to do better. Complaint Letters to the WPSC would help spur action.

Terry needs to be fired immediately. The way she belittles customers is absolutely inexcusable. Today I had my water shut off with NO warning whatsoever because of "issues at my neighbors house so it's just off until further notice" this is unacceptable. Train your employees on being kinder and just NICE. Terry is a hateful miserable person who enjoys making customer's days terrible.

Good local Mom and Pop utility. The electrical crew keeps our power going with reasonable rates. Every time I call for billing help I get a friendly voice to help me out. We're blessed to have a local caring power utility. Big cities can't say that.

Last night we were rocked by a huge storm. Around 1 AM the power went out. We’re newer homeowners up here and we haven’t had a chance to get battery backup for the sump pump, not to mention the rest of the functions in our house requiring electricity.

I wanted to see what was up, so I unhooked my garage door so I could open it. I got in my car and drove .3 miles to find a crew already on the job clearing a fallen tree an downed power line right in the middle of s dangerous thunderstorm! They had power back up inside of two hours, roughy.

I live on Helmholz in Clay Banks, and it was wonderful to see what these folks were doing for us.

I am extremely grateful for the work they did last night. I am a former electrical engineer and I know what a tough and potentially dangerous job that is.

So to the folks of SBU, thank you! I almost ran out to offer some coffee, but you all took off quickly when the job was done.

PS: my crawl space stayed dry. The sump well never overflowed. Thanks again.

Need to work on customer service skills. Power went out at 2300 I called to report the power outage at 0115. The answering "service" informed me a transformer was out; plenty of resources on scene, but that's all the info she had and abruptly hung up. I called back requesting a timeframe for power being restored and was told, "the crews never gave me an estimate." I asked for her name or title and she responded, "We don't give out that information."

SBU has the BEST customer service! I appreciate the low rates as well. Not fair that bad reviews are from people who don't... didnt... were late... or gosh forbid got a reminder in an off season... when part time resident can forget they still have a last month due... Small town utility companies in rural areas can't cover as much financially as bigger companies. SBU you and your staff deserve a 5 star rating!

Who is the rural peasant who felt that it's subscribers need to have an insulting and offensive reminder that their bill needs to be paid. If you have customers who routinely do not pay their bill...deal with them directly. BUT do not leave offensive reminders on MY phone. Any good public relations has now been negated by this obnoxious idea. Time to look at the yokel who thought this up.

If I could give a zero I would! This place takes advantage of not having competition by its absolute heartless tactics, no flexibility if you are short 5 bucks off goes your power, if you get paid 1 day after your shut off date off goes the power and the staff seems to love to make people's lives miserable!
