The staff is excellent, caring, warm and friendly, and so very helpful! I was completely helpless when I arrived, and really depended on their help and am so grateful that they were there for me.
The Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists got me up and walking again very quickly. They work you hard, but don't push you beyond what you can do. And the hard work pays off! I saw gains each and every day.
My medical/care team celebrated my gains with me. I am so grateful to have been able to go to Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to recover.

Our family cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible care and expertise at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. After my son experienced a serious accident and multiple injuries, we were uncertain about his recovery. Following several surgeries, he arrived at Shirley Ryan barely able to move.

From day one, the team provided outstanding support, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Their expertise and encouragement made all the difference, guiding my son through a remarkable recovery journey. The progress he achieved under their care was nothing short of amazing.

The level of customer service and personal attention we received was exceptional. Every doctor, therapist, nurse, and staff member went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable, motivated, and steadily improving. We truly feel lucky to have been in their hands.

If you or a loved one ever need physical rehabilitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. They don’t just treat patients—they change lives!

Shirley Ryan was the best thing in helping me recover from my back surgery. The first full day and everyday after, they scheduled me for at least 3 hours of OT/PT, when all I wanted to do was stay in bed. They pushed me harder than "I thought" I could do and in less than 2 weeks I was released without a wheel chair or walker. The staff was top notch and the view while working out was spectacular. I would highly recommend Shirley Ryan YabilityLab to my friends or family.

I've heard good things about Shirley Ryan and met with a doctor in November. She gave me a very good impression by asking a lot of questions and understanding the complexity of my pelvic pain. I was optimistic that maybe there's a chance for relief with enough therapy.
She referred me to the physical therapy facility in Burr Ridge and submitted a referral in the system and also provided me a paper referral.

I called Burr Ridge who said I need a referral. I contacted the doctor whose office responded saying the referral is already in the system. I spoke with the gatekeeper and Burr Ridge who recognized the referral and said I would get a call to schedule in two to four weeks. I received a call to make an appointment from a very nice man, but he somehow wanted to make the appointment for Chicago. I explained that I needed to go to Burr Ridge. Once again, I encountered the same gatekeeper who began her insistence on a referral. I told her that it's been in the system since meeting with the doctor weeks ago and that I did receive a call from Scheduling. She then began to say I need to bring in the paper referral. I am bedridden with pain and cannot travel to hand her a piece of paper as the electronic referral was there but she was determined to talk in circles and not allow me to make an appointment. All I wanted to do was make an appointment but she would not allow that to happen. I will look elsewhere when my insurance changes in January.

I should add that someone from Shirley Ryan reached out to me and left a very nice voicemail explaining the technical glitch responsible for the miscommunication that created the issue when trying to make an appointment.
They offered to make a physical therapy appointment a few days away. However, in the mean time, I've decided to find a provider closer to home. Not any fault of Shirley Ryan, I just think it would be easier to find a provider that's closer in order to minimize the pain when traveling.

It's unfortunate this didn't work out as I was very pleased and hopeful with Dr. Sarah Huang. The temporary technical glitch that prevented me from making the appointment was also unfortunate timing but it was very kind of Shirley Ryan to reach out to explain and to offer a quick appointment.

I enjoyed my time at Shirley Ryan I met some amazing therapist that really helped me get back on my feet Reagan was my physical therapist and she was amazing. She helped me get back on my feet after 2 1/2 years of no walking on my leg she was a Great person when he came to giving me the strength and the positivity to do some hard stuff, but I was able to do it and I never thought I would. I also interacted with Vince on Pain Management ways of helping my pain without taking medication and he was man with a lot of knowledge that I will keep forever. The staff and the nurses were very nice. Reagan was the best Physical Therapist I’ve ever worked with. Nicole Burgess

I had major spinal surgery and was sent to Shirley Ryan AbilityLab after. The staff is truly amazing, both professionally and quantitatively. After 2 weeks, I was able to return home with the strength and ability to do the basics as my body heals and allows me to do more. I highly recommend this organization.
