This school is genuinely very terrible. I withdrew from the school in January BEFORE CLASSES STARTED and transferred to anyone school. Later, I got a letter in the mail saying I owe $745.50. I contacted the university and they told me to file an appeal. I did, but they never replied to me so I went in person. They said they can’t remove the fee and there’s nothing I or anyone can do. I got robbed of $745 by a school I don’t attend for classes I received ZERO education from. They even told me that if my appeal got accepted, id still have to pay some amount. It’s not right for me to be charged, or for there to even be a fee before the start of the class.

tldr: University of Memphis is a terrible college that is constantly looking for new ways to scam their students (dining dollars, automatically charging you for full price books in your TUITION). The classes are also rock-bottom quality, with many professors gatekeeping key classes while being terrible at their jobs.

For the record: I graduated from here. I'm not a dropout, this place is just the worst.

Full review:
UofM is a greedy and morally destitute place. They will attempt to rob you yearly by sneaking in book fees into your tuition, and you will need to opt out every single semester. They also force you to buy a meal plan, even if you are not an on campus student.

The admin here are lazy and here to line their pockets and stroke their egos. You can expect constant spam from the President stroking his sense of importance as they continue to try to drain you dry for sportsball money.

University of Memphis admin, you're bad people, and I wish only the worst for you. If there's a hell, you belong there.

PS: Beyond that, the classes suck and almost all of them are just watching a person read a slideshow while you barely understand them. Glad I'm out of this hell hole.

When I attended I was severely depressed. Memphis is unsafe and U of M is close to a bad neighborhood only natives know about. I stayed in carpenter complex and my parent said it looked like a shelter for $2000 a semester. Trashy, old and un-renovated. Memphis doesn’t have much to do for natives but the campus only had the newly opened Recreational Center and University Center. It got so old by December. Chick-fil-A and Panda Express were the typical options. Not much food options and campus was so BORING. I didn’t have a car so was always left on campus and it was a ghost town on weekends. The events on campus were dry and less people showed up to the courtyard at times. HOCO was a repeat of last year at Main Event. This campus as far as amenities and non-party, non-city related activities was 0/10. No good-clean campus fun for me. As a Memphis native I wanted to get away from Memphis but of course I have to leave Memphis to get that out-of-state experience. They would obviously copy trends on other colleges nation wide. But my experience there was lackluster and mediocre. Depression was at an all time high by December because of how boring campus was without a vehicle or friends with vehicles.

Either they need to stop buying stuff that requires a semi truck to deliver or they need to trim their trees & tow cars parked too close to intersections. You'd think someone there would understand physics & engineering enough to make these simple changes. But sadly they're probably too busy indoctrinated the next generation of leftist voters to teach basic physics.

I'm regretting getting enrolled before the semester even starts. I have to email and call staff members 4-5 times before I get a response (normally a week later) on issues that are of urgency. I have to pay 5,700 dollars per semester and a big chunk of that goes to their oversaturated staff's paychecks. I know they aren't understaffed. If they aren't going to help me then why do I need to pay that much. It's ridiculous. At this point it's a ripoff.

In regards to the library, it is a quiet place to study. The library is a clean space for anyone who enjoys reading, computer work and or just chilling by themselves. I come up here to study when I'm here for the summer. The campus itself is also beautiful, vastly improved over the past ten years.
