First the view is beautiful really nice area, really beautiful friendly place. The cabins are really nice come in all different size. Walking distance from shopping and food. The only down fall that I could find in the place is that you get extra visitors, with out additional charge, they have four legs , a long tell, furry little guys, they should post in the cabins with all the other rules that Cinderella let's her friends hangout in the cabin, had to keep lights on both nights I stayed, the inn put traps but that came with no apologies and no change of room, money off nothing. So if you don't mind extra friends then it was a really nice stay!!

I’ve been staying at the Idyllwild Inn since I was a little girl. Back then, I would come with my mom and a friend, or my mom, dad and sister. I can remember delighting in the simple playground - a metal slide, seesaw, volleyball net, horseshoe and wood climbing structure. We would always go catch the movie that was playing at the Rustic Theater and gorge on the candy I excitedly purchased at the Candy Cupboard. I always wanted the pack of chocolate cigarettes, ha ha!||Fast forward 30 years and I recently returned for the first time since becoming a mom. The last time I came was 10 years ago with my sister and our friend. Then, it was a perfect, laidback girls weekend full of wine and other fireside indulgences in our cozy cabin. ||The Idyllwild Inn has always been the perfect mountain getaway no matter the stage of life. This time, we brought our dog. While she enjoyed all the smells and lunging at squirrels, my toddler delighted in the same metal slide, seesaw and wood play structure - virtually unchanged since I was not much older than him.||Also virtually unchanged are the cabins. In a world where everything moves at light speed, what an absolute joy it is to slow down, battle it out in a family game of Chutes & Ladders (checked out from the front desk), and savor the simple sights and sounds of mountain nature, a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee, and local hospitality. The Idyllwild Inn has changed very little because it’s perfect the way it is.||We discovered our best-ever Idyllwild meal on this trip - the most perfect breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches and freshly baked donuts from Amelia’s Bakery Cafe, a short walk from our cabin. Also on this trip, we discovered the new (to us) Idyllwild Community Playground, also within short walking distance, and enjoyed relaxing in the car looking out at Lake Fulmor (about 20 minutes away) while our little guy napped.||I’m delighted to report that while some childhood memories are like balloons that can feel deflated when experienced once again as an adult, the Idyllwild Inn lives up to every expectation if you just be sure to appreciate it for the sweet and charming home away from home that it is.||Thank you to the wonderful staff - we will most certainly be back! One day, I hope, as grandparents to the next generation of little ones learning to love dear, old Idyllwild Inn.

You cannot beat the location. The check-in & check-out was easy and quick. The property is very nice and parking was easy. Only thing is the carpets need a good deep clean as there were quite a few stains in the Old West themed room. Other than that, amazing place!

For single travelers or couples looking to take a trip to Idyllwild on a budget, this is a nice pick. You're effectively in the town center, there's a cafe about a minute or two from the lodges, coffee maker is stocked with the basics, comfortable beds and adequate toiletries. Wild West was the room I stayed at and that's another plus; each room has a theme. From what I can remember; Old French Cottage, India, Autumn and Spring among others.

Two chairs, a table, microwave, refrigerator and a smart TV were also provided. I think firewood for the fireplace is upon special request or purchased on-site or elsewhere. Didn't use it so I can't 100% confirm that.

IMPORTANT NOTE; if you're a *very* light sleeper, bring earplugs. Acorns fall on the roofs a lot around here.

My wife and I arrived on bicycles without a reservation. I spoke with a woman at the desk and they had availability; she kindly showed me the options and photos of the rooms on her computer screen. It turns out that Idyllwild Inn also has a “sister hotel” named “Strawberry” and some of their rooms show up on the booking page for the Idyllwild inn. I was confused, but the woman behind the desk was extremely patient and friendly with my slow learning curve. I came back in 3 times asking questions, and the staff was so patient and friendly. In fact, another staff member said, “Don’t worry about it; we love you guys.” For me, feeling welcomed by the staff goes a long way. We decided to get a cabin, and glad we did. It is more than we needed as bikepackers, but it is such a nice spot with a small and quiet porch. We are quite happy. I highly recommend this Inn for the good customer service and the nice cabins at a very reasonable price.

Convenient location since most restaurants are within a 1-4 min walking distance. The room was cozy, clean and comfortable. The bed is soft and has nice pillows. The fireplace was amazing though the wood provided is only good for about 2 hours. I bought two more bundles from the Inn for $8 each which lasted another 2-3 hours each. It also has a kitchen and a small deck.

The one downside of this place is that my cabin #8 was about 20 feet from a major road and I heard a lot of trucks passing by. It took away from the experience of being in a peaceful forest. It was quiet at night though.

Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in! I absolutely would stay here again. I stayed in the Winter room. The mini fridge had its own separate freezer section, which gives more room than your typical hotel mini fridge. The fireplace was a homey addition. The room smelled and felt clean from the moment I stepped in. The gentleman who checked me in was also very friendly.

A few things to note:
- The room has been given a slightly modern update and doesn’t entirely match the photos on the website, but it still has the same charm and themed decorative touches, not to mention the carved mantle.
- The provided firewood only lasts 2-3 hours. I wish they had provided more.
- The room didn’t have the best plumbing, as the toilet had trouble flushing, and, since a plunger was provided, I can only assume this isn’t an unusual occurrence.
- I appreciate that I was able to open the windows, but there was no way to control some of the window blinds. One didn’t have a string to pull up and the other didn’t have a rod to twist to shut the blinds.
- It is right in town, which could be convenient, but also means that if you want to enjoy the porch in the evening, you’ll have to deal with the music coming from the nearby restaurants. The porch outside my room was very peaceful in the morning, though, although I had to watch for falling acorns.
- The parking is not immediately in front of the rooms for the themed rooms. You have to park around the corner, but it’s a very short walk. No big deal.

But it really is all about the bed and pillows for me. I didn’t want to leave! And I absolutely hope to be back.
