I am a medical doctor with over 30 years of experience, and I have recently developed an interest in incorporating Ketamine therapy as an adjunctive treatment for depression and mood disorders. After careful research into available training options, I found the Ketamine Research Institute to offer the most comprehensive in-person course. The training far exceeded my expectations.

Not only did the course provide highly interactive and direct IQ training, it also provided the opportunity to participate in a personal Ketamine treatment. My husband is a disabled veteran with every issue imaginable-chronic pain, ptsd, intrusive thoughts, extreme anxiety and social anxiety, depression and psychogenic non epileptic seizures caused by anxiety. We lived in Iowa when we first learned about ketamine treatments. His first treatment required 5 straight days of 4 hour infusions. The outcome was life changing! Pain gone, ptsd gone, anxiety so much better, depression gone and no more seizures! He had one more booster in Iowa before moving to Florida which was another 4 hours in a room. Oh and we had to travel 4 hours one way to get the infusions.

Once moving to Florida we searched for clinics and found one in Sarasota that we went to so he could continue his boosters. The cost of the boosters was triple what we paid in Iowa of course. But he had to have them!! So he had 3 additional boosters at the new place. 4 hours in a room being checked on and monitored. Each treatment the effects wore off quicker and quicker. The last booster did absolutely nothing! He walked out of the treatment still in pain. We were devastated! We didn’t want to go back to seizures and monthly ER visits!

We then found Dr Grass and all I can say is it is a huge difference!! He knows his stuff and explains how his system works different from others. Yes you have to do blood tests and dna tests but that is because those things contribute to how you process the ketamine. This was why my husband was metabolizing the other ketamine treatments at a faster rate. And we found out he had a gene mutation that caused his depression to be worse than others. And the cost of the treatments has been constant with the costs we have seen at other clinics. The difference…. The infusions are not 4 hours-40 minutes, you end up with double the dosage AND he sits in the room with the patient the whole time! We would recommend Dr Grass to anyone considering a ketamine treatment. Our only wish is that the VA would recommend this as a needed treatment for their Veterans. But Dr Grass gives a veteran discount unlike the other clinics!

I attended the May Mini-Fellowship Ketamine Training program. It was everything I could hope for. As an anesthesiologist/Pain physician I felt pretty competent to monitor and run infusions of Ketamine, but with Dr. Grass and his course I can honestly say that I will have better outcomes than 95% of the other “Ketamine clinics” popping up everywhere.

Dr Grass is incredibly knowledgeable with years of professional experience in the uses of Ketamine. He gave us copies of his slides so thorough that I did not need to take notes and could focus on the information. The trainings are small- it was just myself and three others- which really helped.

To my Brothers and Sisters who may be considering Ketamine treatment. I want to warn you of one very important first step. I thought any treatment center would offer the same service, what’s the difference? I found out the hard way. I’ll try and be brief. If the attending doctor does not have extensive self experience personally using Ketamine they could not prepare the way for you safely. This trip is way beyond LSD. You need a guide. Somone who knows about the little things that can make your experience a good one. The proper lighting, music, chair setting and oversight and knowledge of Bio Chemistry.

My first time I went to doctor Jerry Grass a I had a very good experience with three consecutive sessions. It worked well and I let it go for a year and a half until I realized it was not working any more, I tried to contact Dr.Grass but he moved. I did not try and find him since there were so many other doctors in Sarasota. I found another doctor in the same town, I thought what’s the difference? Big mistake!
I was given only one session. I was left in a small room or large closet, it was full of activated medical equipment bussing breathing clicking behind my head. The recliner was uncomfortable, no one asked if I was comfortable. The only light was coming from the not fully closed door crack which plagued me throughout the experience. It also went on for a full hour where Dr. Grass session is a half hour. If you think it’s no issue wait until you are deep in the experience and you have to pee; Not fun!

So this time I went out of my way to find Dr. Grass in his new facility. Wow, very nice! I had another three sessions with him and decided to write this so you don’t make the same mistake I did. Dr Jerry Grass has over 40 years doing Ketamine himself, it’s why he is a “research “ center! He understands Ketamine and the interactions of all the drugs you may be using as well as the very deep sensory preparation necessary for a good Ketamine experience.

If you have serious issues PTSD, depression etc, it’s the only thing that can help you and help insulate you from your past abuses. But, it needs to be done with the best guide you can find. Dr. Grass is my choice and I am very grateful to him and his kind staff.
