I've been a parent of Excellence Girls Charter School for the past 15 years. I'm excited to say I have been a parent from the very beginning. I have 3 amazing daughters that I've entrusted the school with, and even though the staff has changed over the years the pride, leadership, excellence, superiority that is shown is the main reason that no matter where I moved to throughout the Borough of Brooklyn I remained faithful to this school. One of the greatest examples the staff has installed into our daughters are building confidence, independence, and credence. EGCS rocks.

Wonderful learning environment, the structure has lightened up over the years...I didn't mind it when my daughter was there but many parents complained....the academics is still 5 stars. The new staff is Wonderful and my granddaughter is in 4th grade and extremely happy every day....looking forward to a wonderful school year.

I absolutely LOVE THIS SCHOOL. My Paris started in August & I already see a change in academics .Her reading is strong , math also. The principal (Ms.Bowen) is AMAZING & she’s also hands on . My 6 Year old daughter LOVE Her principal, she said her principal is her best friend lol. My daughter teachers are also AMAZING (Ms.Omede) & (Ms.Grima) I always recommend this school to any and everyone with girls because it is really hard to come across people that actually care about your child & their learning. The staff period is very professional And Caring & I love it. I am
100% comfortable when I drop her off to school & that is Great because I am
Very overprotective lol

My daughter has attended excellence girls since kindergarten she is now in second grade. The school is awesome when it comes to teaching about core values, the teachers/ are wonderful minus the few extremely rude administrative personel in the main office. The days are long for the children as they start at 7 am sharp and leave at 3:50. Overall I was pleased up until this school year. Lately it has been run as a military school vs a charter school. They are extremely tough on the children, some staff are inconsiderate towards parents & the kids often get reprimanded for nonsense such as not having all black shoes or missing any part of their uniform. If they are not in full uniform, they are not allowed to learn or go to class which is really shocking to me. The school will provide either new if available or used uniform clothes & shoes if your child is not in uniform to the T. Wearing other children's used uniforms is completely unsanitary, so if ever you receive a call request new uniforms. If the shoe has an inch of white silver anything its cause for reprimand and a phone call to a parent. While I'm all for encouraging appropiate attire I feel that they take this to extreme measures. They rarely have field trips or get to experience learning outside the classroom & the focus is strictly on academics & testing. I originally enrolled my child here because I though it would be a warm loving environment for her and I was under the impression that this school does things outside of the box since they don't follow the same curriculum as other nyc schools, however there seems to be more standardized testing here than anything else. While my child has excelled academically I feel she is unable to be a child and truly enjoy learning. I love structure however this school may be a bit too strict for small children in my opinion. I also recently found out that they are letting go of one of my child's teachers who happens to be amazing & this is because the administration at the school does not like her ways of teaching because she engages the children & allows them to have fun while learning. Apparently that's unacceptable here. Unfortunately I will be removing my child from this school & this will be her last year at excellence girls. I really believe if they focused more on educating & actually engaging the children vs what they call "tracking" children so that they're in line and in order at all times along with their uniform shenanigans, they would have happier parents and better reviews.I'm truly disappointed with this school and I feel like that they should label the school a military school vs a charter since their policies are not going to change anytime soon. (Elementary Academy)A nice kind place for young girls to enjoy themselves. It is a bit strict, but they still have a lot of fun and get great opportunities. I would definitely recommend sending your child here.
The middle academy needs to reduce their class size. Thirty children per class is a bit much.

I feel as if this school is like a prison.I attended this school all 5 years .They don’t focus on the main thing of learning history and science .When we did learn history we didn’t learn about different cultures we more learned one sided history.Such as American revolution,The British,The constitution of independence etc, etc. Also they worried about folding our hands,Hands to our sides,Straight back. The bus was very unsanitary . The school lunch was not what a kid should eat. Also,we learned stuff that was not for a grade . I don’t recommend
