This is a great place if you want to learn certain topics that are in the CTE programs. The CTE classes that are available are it specialist, medical, and graphic design. The other other classes are average. Some teacher are slightly hard to understand while they do make it really fun to learn. Other teacher are easy to understand, help you with everything but don’t really make the class fun. There are some teachers that make the class fun and are easy to understand but I only know of two of them. The cafeteria food is average. There are days where the food is great but there are also days where the food is undercooked/old but that’s normal for every school in NYC.

Went for orientation & realized how this school has great programs. From advance course to college advisory at the beginning of the school year, the staff will ensure their students is on a right. The students even have the ability to start a new club if they do not like/ have a club that they are interested in. Definitely recommend parent to visit it for themselves to see what the school as to offer to help build the next generation of great leaders.

Some of the teachers of this school are harsh when it comes to grading and tests, which I think is good for preparing for college, and trust me grade doesn't matter that much( to me at least). But the school's facilities and opportunities that they provide are really awesome. I totally recommend this school to anyone who is interested in getting a sense of what it feels like working in the real world as professionals in high school. However this school is not for someone who is looking to get into one of the ivy leagues.
One of the downsides of this school is that they don't provide AP's to everyone, Not because it's selective in such matter. It's kinda like a raffle draw. Other than that, overall this school is pretty good.

Bad experience. Graduated in 2021, we were robbed of a good graduation. Principal said he had an option to give a big grad, but he was “worried” that many students wouldn’t be able to afford it after the pandemic. Yet, they charged us for other items like yearbooks, gowns, pictures, and etc. Just say that you were inadequate at planning for your seniors. We had like 6 split-up grads for each shop class, when it was approved by the state to have gatherings with masks on and others had their grad at SJU, I went to my friends! We had it in our auditorium. It was the most messiest and uneventful grad ever, my peers felt the same way. Leaving this school left a sour taste in my mouth, I didn’t feel like I properly said bye to Edison (which I despised). We also didn’t feel special for enduring the years of unfairness. The staff are also extremely authoritative, pompous, and more. You weren’t allowed to work on math homework in the lunchroom because Ms. Conway (head of math department) believed that you were copying. You weren’t allowed to go out to the open section of the lunchroom, even though it was sunny and nice. I hope they improved. Mrs. Smith liked torturing students for the fun of it, making them do 100s of vocabs in their binders per week and graded them harshly, which didn’t help us, collectively and personally, preparing for the AP Literature exam. Mrs. Martino avoided teaching us “scientific notation,” because it was too “boring.” You have low standards for teaching and expect the utmost academically exceptional students. There’s a flaw in the dynamic in this school. Obviously, there are exceptions! Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Petroutsos, Mrs. Pirozzi, Ms. Peruffo, and Loscalzo. They’re not specialized, don’t believe their students work hard. I used to think all High schools were this way, I observed friends in specialized schools and their faculty didn’t behave like dictators. I am so glad that I’m out of this place.

The only bad thing about the school is the teachers. Teachers in my opinion are one of the if not the most important aspect of schools as they help you achieve good grades which would then be shown on your transcript. This school however compared to my middle school is basically terrible. One of the biggest problems that I see when it comes to teachers are the science teachers, I used to love science and I would accel because of my middle school teachers making it fun to learn. This year however I came to relize that I hate science as most if not all the teachers are below average some of them being ms.Queja, mr.Lall, and from what I have heard from my friends and other students ms.martio.usually in middle school I would get 94-95+ but now because of the science teachers that I have to deal with I can barely get a passing score on my test or quizzes which would then lower my grade. I am really tired of seeing my grades drop not because I'm bad at science but because of the science teachers incompetence. This really makes me wonder "are they really qualified to teach?" I hope you look over this review and make sure you apply these changes in order to help the students that are going to Thomas Edison high school

Class of 2012 and was a good school w/most teachers treating you nice. Fellow students were fine. I felt the top administrators ( principal, APs' need to work better with the staff ( and show more respect )as many times ( especially since this new principal got in ) you could cut the tension with a knife. It's almost like the Republicans against the Democrats. Just like the White House , this school CAN'T Possibly be a good environment in which to work or learn since the last Principal left.

I hate this school. Well, let me describe. I went here and just the second day I got yelled in my face by a senior. Also if your religion doesn't allow you to wear shorts or short sleeves you have to go to your church and get a signed letter! like what the h*ll? Why can't we just tell you we can't wear shorts. Most Muslims don't even go to a Masjid. I had one teacher who won't let you go to the bathroom and said "You shouldn't even have to go to the bathroom." I understand the bathroom policy. That you're not allowed to go to the bathroom 10 minutes before the period ends or starts. This isn't even a great school why don't they understand religion?

I was there for orientation class of 2026, I looked at almost all of the reviews from students. I looked at the motto of the school.
that being said, I'm one of those parent! I will be calling out teachers for the efforts they are putting in. & I will certainly will be letting teachers know, if they are being unfair to our kids. especially my child!....looking forward to this fall .....sincerely concern mom:)
