I've have a new found experience and the school isn't that bad if you find the things you want to do and love. I unfortunately joined an excellent step team but I quit. And the teachers would want every student to reach as high as they could. The teachers I have aren't half bad compared to some other public school teachers. It's easy to gain what you want if you try hard. I must say this school is more challenging then I thought it was at first. I find a lot of other peers are taking advance courses and these courses have a lot of work. Hey if I can do it you can.

I graduated BTHS in 1972. I never worked so hard in my life academically as well as physically. I was on the award winning soccer team for three years. The architecture and building construction curriculum was most challenging and extremely rewarding. The neighborhood was rough in the late sixties and early seventies so commuting from Queens was never boring. There was a foundry on the seventh floor. My building construction classroom was three stories high and had a house built inside. What school can top that? I highly recommend this high school.

I'm currently a Junior here-and I'm in the Media Communications major--and I honestly think this is the best school in Brooklyn. The children are soooo nice, the teachers are great (with an exception of 2) and it is so lively. You might I have to put a little bit more work into your homework than other schools, but you learn so much.
I LOVE BROOKLYN TECH! #1 School! 😀

I attended BTHS from 1965-1969. Absolutely THE BEST education I ever received from any academic institution, and that includes college. A tougher neighborhood back then, still an all male student body, and the two hour commute from Jamaica, Queens to Forte Greene, Brooklyn every school day were obstacles, but in spite of these issues, my decision to test into and stay at Tech until graduation was a great choice!

I am the president of the Alumni Foundation. Brooklyn Tech is rated 60th in the nation by US News out of nearly 25,000 public high schools. (Ranked higher than Stuyvesant this year.) With over 16 majors for kids to select from in their final two years, you have the ability to intensively study a subject that you are truly interested in. Coursework begins at the college level and goes beyond what AP exams test. Students are trained how to think well and problem solve because emphasis is on giving every student a foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, but there are liberal arts majors like Law and Society and College Prep so going to Tech doesn't mean you are locked into a STEM subject as a major. Fantastic learning environment. Terrific facilities and labs. Teachers are among the best. Administration is forward thinking and innovative. The students are unbelievable: excited to learn, way intelligent and nice to each other - that is to say not cut throat competitive but grades do matter to most. Ethnically and racially diverse. Hundreds of students from every background owing to its size (largest public high school in the nation, about 5,500). Most kids qualify for free or subsidized lunch which means no stigma if you are from a poor family like most New Yorkers. Majority are from families that recently immigrated from countries all over the world so wonderful opportunity to get to know others and make friends from different backgrounds and cultures. Huge number of student clubs, activities and athletic teams. Largest and strongest public high school alumni organization in the country which spends more than a $1million a year funding teacher training and projects, student internships, student research opportunities, student activities, lecture series and rebuilds labs and other facilities to make sure that the education offered at Tech is the very best that can be gotten in NYC. Graduates are well received by every college in the country. Tech is the biggest feeder high school in NYC for CUNY Macaulay Honors Program (very selective and free tuition) and sends many graduates to the very most selective colleges in the country like Harvard and MIT. Every graduate is fully college ready and 98% go on to college. Brooklyn Tech is better than it every was, and it was always great.

Probably the best education experience in my life! Looking back, I should have and could have applied myself more and I wish I had taken more extracurricular activities. That being said, I still received a superior education that I still use today. This school prepared me to meet life's challenges and to be resilient. It is also where I learned to question everything; to have a critical eye. These lessons I learned at BTHS, I now pass on to my students.

Read a review on here some kid complaining about the elevators. LOL! We weren't allowed to take the elevators. Life is hard, Brooklyn was hard, the struggle was real. Bust your ass, feel the pain and grow into something everyone will be proud of.

In my day we wore a uniform an the challenge was great. However anything good is not easy.
It prepared me for life's differences. Most of all coming from disadvantaged neighborhood is still no excuse to complain. If everyone thought that way Americans wouldn't succeed.
An our forefathers created a standard thou there is not total transparency in government it gives every color creed sexual identity and opportunity to make it. The American Dream!
