My Husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Ray Covington last week when we were in Blairsville. We normally come from Dahlonega to Blairsville a couple of times a month to have lunch. As you turn to go up the hill towards the research center, there is an opened field to the left. And not inside the gate.... This field is never used. It's a great place to stop for a few minutes to let our dogs take a pee break.
We have done this for 4 years with no issues. The longest time we are there is maybe 15 minutes. As we were leaving Mr. Covington came and tapped on our window to let us know that we were not welcome there even though there was no sign posted. And again, we were not inside the gate, but he explained that he didn't want to send a message to the Blairsville people that they could run their dogs there at any time. Because they would and he didn't want that....
I ask why was there not a sign posted? He said "I don't need to do that. I make the rules here." This man needs some education in proper etiquette when speaking to people. Evidently, his position at the research center has gone his head. Even if he didn't want anyone running their dogs on the field, there are better ways to approach it. First. Place a sign...
My husband Is a retired biologist from UGA. And he has done research there in the past.
And Mr. Covington seem to think he was above us.
After my husband spoke to his superior we found out that we did not do anything wrong. Mr. Covington just needed to feel superior on that day I guess...
