I was referred to Sutter Health Neurology on Dec 20th, 2024.

Received a call from my doctor's office referral nurse on Dec 30th, 2024 stating that Sutter Health Neurology was prepared to schedule an appointment and that I needed to call them.

Due to the holiday, I called them on January 2nd, 2025. The referral nurse I spoke with from Sutter Health said that the neurologist was requesting more information, that she would send it to him, and I should call back in a week if I had not heard from the neurologist. I never received a call. So, I called again on January 10th, 2025. I was told by the referral nurse again that the neurologist was requesting more information, that she would send it to him, and I should call back in a week if I had not heard from the neurologist. I never received a call. So, I called yet again on January 17th, 2025 and was told I needed to give the neurologist two weeks to respond from the January 10th call but if I had not heard from him by next week to call and a referral nurse would be authorized to schedule an appointment for me. I never received a call. So now we come to January 24th, 2025. I called and the referral nurse at first could not find my notes and put me on hold for ten minutes to find them. Then she tried to give me the same spiel, that the neurologist was requesting more information, that she would send it to him, and I should call back in another week. I told her no; I was not waiting another week. At this point I have waited a month to just get an appointment scheduled and I was promised on my last call that if I called today, they would schedule for me if the neurologist never reached out to me. She told me she would call the neurologist and ask if she could go ahead and schedule me. Ten minutes later she tells me that the neurologist refused to let me schedule until he reviews the notes and that he will contact me when he is finished.

Frustrated I ended the call and called my doctor's office and explained the issue. According to the nurse I spoke with, their office received a message on Dec 30th, 2024 from Sutter Health Neurology Referral Department claiming that they had all the information they needed and needed nothing more from their office, which is in complete contradiction to what I've been told by the Sutter Health Referral Dept. for the past month. What a nightmare, this made me feel like my health is being played with. I should not have to fight so hard when I am feeling so sick to get the healthcare I need. Seeing that there is another comment from four months ago claiming to have had a similar issue with the referral dept., this is an ongoing issue that should be addressed.

If you want to be frustrated beyond reason, either the Sutter Neurological Dep or Sutters Referral Services will help you with that. Always curteous but never caring. I had an event which caused me to be intermittantly to be unstable when I walked. First there was an a error in coding, then recorded. Ive

Love my Drs, don’t love the extreme wait times between appointments , unwillingness to fight insurance , or getting put on medication without an appointment to properly discuss it and be informed of everything . Needs to have better follow through and allow patients to be more hands on in their own treatment .
